SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC PROGRAM

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HIGH SCHOOL
ACADEMIC PROGRAM

The academic program of the Science and Technology High School, incorporating project applications in basic sciences and technological designs, enables our students to develop critical thinking, observation, curiosity, research, and problem-solving skills. They become individuals capable of producing creative scientific solutions, well-prepared for university, and contributing value to the country's development. The program emphasizes not only academic excellence but also the cultivation of social skills, fostering a holistic educational approach.

Communication, serving as a bridge that unites all societies worldwide, is a fundamental force that enables individuals to explore themselves and others, ensuring continuous personal development. The primary goal of our courses is to impart the power and nuances of language to students through distinguished works of Turkish and world literature, enhancing their Turkish language proficiency in both oral and written expression. Moreover, our aim is to cultivate cultured individuals with a deep understanding of both national and world literary heritage, equipped with universal human values, tolerance towards diverse perspectives and cultures, and proficiency in accessing and presenting information.

In Turkish Language and Literature courses, which are centered around developing the skill of using one's native language effectively in different environments, the curriculum is aligned with the achievements defined by the Ministry of National Education. Utilizing approaches from international programs, works from different periods and genres are analyzed in detail. An interactive environment is fostered to enhance students' ability to inquire and access information. Eyüboğlu students, equipped with strong academic knowledge, achieve high success in both national and international exams.

The initiatives such as "Literature and Book Days," the Creative Writing and Film Critique Club, interclass debate competitions, and the literary magazine "Yakamoz," composed of writings by Eyüboğlu students, are significant endeavors aimed at producing individuals who are academically and culturally developed. These activities contribute to the overall educational experience, emphasizing the importance of literature and language in personal and intellectual growth.

At all levels, visual and three-dimensional materials, which are the most crucial part of mathematics education worldwide, are utilized. Mathematical concepts are made more visual and concrete in lessons through new mathematics software, graphic-drawing capabilities, and state-of-the-art interactive math applications. Inspired by "Differentiated Education" strategies and the achievements of the International Baccalaureate Programs, collaborative skills among students are developed. The significance of mathematics as a vital communication tool in understanding life and solving problems is emphasized through research questions and daily life projects.

Students are regularly involved in international mathematics competitions such as Turkish Intelligence Games, TÜBİTAK, inter-school Mind Games, and project competitions, ASMA (American Mathematics Competitions), Canada Waterloo University Mathematics League, ISMTF (European Mathematical Mathematics League), and Kangaroo. They are given the opportunity to achieve different successes on national and international platforms. Eyüboğlu teachers, representing Destination Imagination (DI), the world's most important and largest creativity organization in Turkey, prepare students for DI tournaments and competitions every year. Eyüboğlu students, who have won numerous Turkish Championships in their categories, successfully represent our country at the DI World Finals held annually in the state of Tennessee, United States.

Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions are the first educational institution in Turkey to include Astronomy in the high school curriculum. Within the framework of the course and club activities, astronomy classes and scientific observations are conducted at Eyüboğlu Twin Observatory. Collaborating with globally significant Astronomy organizations such as AAVSO (Variable Stars Observers Association) and ASP (Pacific Astronomy Society), Eyüboğlu also annually organizes and hosts NASA's "Scientist For A Day" Article Competition for students worldwide in Turkey.

In courses included in the social sciences program at all levels, the aim is to educate citizens who embrace the contemporary values of the 21st century, adopt the principles and revolutions of Atatürk, know their history and culture, experience creating, using, and interpreting knowledge within a scientific method, think critically, make creative and accurate decisions, are aware of the fundamental values of democracy, respect human rights, are sensitive to the environment they live in, and have developed social participation skills. The educational environment is enriched beyond the classroom with various competitions and traditional trips organized every year. Additionally, the European Youth Parliament (EYP) conferences, which we also host, provide students with a different learning environment through the participation of students from different schools and countries.

The science program at Eyüboğlu, covering a wide range from kindergarten to 12th grade, is created in coherence and encompasses experimental and project studies based on research and inquiry, avoiding rote learning. The program, which includes the scientific requirements of the era, aims to equip Eyüboğlu students with scientific research techniques and skills, enable them to use these skills to solve problems encountered in daily life, and enhance their presentation skills to share their knowledge with others.

Well-equipped laboratories, furnished with contemporary, computer-connected measurement devices, serve not only as places where students conduct experimental studies but also as science centers where they prepare projects for national and international competitions. The laboratories, which students can use individually outside of class, are the focal points of success in national and international competitions. Eyüboğlu laboratories, where the seeds of awards in TÜBİTAK middle school and high school project competitions and the successful results achieved every year are planted, are under the supervision and control of laboratory teachers who guide and support students. The Science Festival, where nearly 150 projects from around 30 schools are exhibited every year, the fun-filled Science Festival with entertaining experiments and activities, and the numerous projects that students participate in national and international competitions every year are the most prominent examples of the success of science studies at the school.

The high school English program aims to enable students to express themselves fluently and accurately in various environments through reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills, to succeed in international exams (TOEFL, IELTS, FCE, etc.) and the Higher Education Foreign Language Exam, to acquire independent reading habits and sustain this habit throughout their lives, and to approach texts of different genres critically and analyze them. One of the most important goals of the program is also to ensure that students exhibit a positive attitude, value, and respect different cultures. In line with these goals, students effectively use technological tools (smart boards, tablets, Google Classroom, digital reading platforms) and research skills within the lessons. As a natural result of the excellent English education they receive at school, Eyüboğlu students participate in numerous conferences, panels, and debates both domestically and internationally.

Every language represents a new culture, a new world. In this context, Eyuboğlu Educational Institutions emphasize and support multilingualism, offering German and Spanish, languages widely spoken and actively used worldwide, as the second foreign language to students. Students continue their second foreign language education until the end of high school based on their own interests and goals. The aim is to provide high school students with a new perspective and make them culturally aware. Technological innovations are used in these studies, and a conceptual learning approach is employed to establish connections with other subjects. Students research the culture of the language they are learning and share it with their peers in that language. They examine and comment on literary works in the learned language and follow the current events of the culture through contemporary publications. Eyüboğlu students also participate in certificate exams prepared in accordance with the European Common Language Criteria. The B1 certificate exam (FIT, DELE) is targeted at the 10th-grade level.

In technology classes, in addition to digital literacy skills, students are equipped with software, design, and technical skills through courses such as Computer-Aided Drawing, Programming with Java, Computer Networks, Mechatronics, and Fundamentals of Engineering and Technology. Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions have the authority to grant Oracle, Cisco, and Solidworks certificates to their teachers through the training they provide. By integrating the exam preparation process into their curriculum, Eyüboğlu provides students with certificates that will give them an advantage in their future lives.

Students develop different perspectives by examining various branches of visual arts and the development of art. They have the chance to bring out all kinds of talents and requirements, fostering self-confidence in seeing themselves as artists by becoming aware of art and design elements.

The Performing Arts Department aims to support students' personal, cognitive, and social development through music education, playing a crucial role in increasing their perception and learning capacities, establishing physical and mental coordination, discovering individual talents, developing teamwork skills, and a sense of responsibility. In this context, the philosophy of Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions' Performing Arts Department requires nurturing students who have a national and universal musical culture, can play at least one instrument, have developed a taste for music, can distinguish quality music, follow all kinds of music events, and are aware of their inner potential.

At the high school levels, students, on the one hand, receive music history and theory education in the elective music courses, while, on the other hand, they undergo talent screenings by the Performing Arts Department teachers. Following the principle that each of our students may have hidden talents, we provide them with a solid foundation to take their first steps towards specialization in branches such as Violin, Guitar, Percussion, Music Technologies, Choir, and Wind Instruments, allowing them to discover their talents.

Our program covers all levels from Middle School 5th grade to High School 10th grade. In addition to polyphonic choir studies, students join the musical club, staging many world-famous musicals (Evita, The Fiddler On The Roof, Les Miserables, Fame, Joseph, West Side Story, Cats, Mamma Mia, Grease, Hair Spray, Mary Poppins, etc.). The high number of students participating in these activities is an indicator of how much they are supported in the process of developing not only their social skills but also their musical cultures.

The high school physical education program encompasses practical exercises for applying skills and techniques related to sports disciplines. The program aims for students to integrate sports into their daily lives and, based on the principle of "Lifelong Sports," to recognize and embrace the fact that sports are an integral part of human life. The physical education program also includes building students' self-confidence and finding practical solutions to impromptu decisions through sports. Additionally, Eyüboğlu students participate in teams formed within the School and Eyüboğlu College Youth and Sports Club in different age categories according to their abilities. Students who serve as licensed athletes in various sports undergo after-school training sessions under the supervision of expert coaches to compete successfully in Istanbul and Turkey Championships. Students, based on their preferences, dedicate 2 class hours per week to club activities in their chosen branch among academic, artistic, and sports clubs.
